Ron Spry was my Area manager and a great influence back then. Dan Adams Too. Shoney's Sucks today, even nasty in Nashville there home city and I see why they are closing more stores up!
The food was delicious and we didn't have to wait long at all it was wonderful and a great blessing
Stopped here for breakfast one Sunday morning. We all had the breakfast buffet. Kids under 10 eat for $4.99. They had a pretty good selection and other things including full salad bar. Both the price and food were good and very reasonable.
I had shrimp plate and exchanged cole slaw for broccoli. Looked and tasted old, hard to chew, and very woody. Guess I acted like Gordon Ramsey and the f bomb was said, then I didn't get any refills on soda or my 95 year old grandma a refill on her coffee or strawberry pie, called manager over he picked up my check and told me to leave, said good luck with that. He threatened the cops and said good luck with that! And said in going back sitting with my grandma as she finishes her food. Oh yeah we hadn't even been served water yet either.
This restaurant has a cozy feel. I had the buffet with my children. The drinks were a little pricey, but the buffet had so many different foods available. We really enjoyed ourselves and will likely return. We also enjoyed the quarter machine as we won $5 in it. It was exciting for the kids. The staff was polite and the restaurant was clean.
And I'm on vacation! As I left the WV State police was pulling in as we were hitting the highway. Finished up our free meal and later!
Much better than I expected. The food didn't look very good, but tasted good. Not a very big menu selection. I didn't see on the menu where you could just order the 'salad bar'. I was shocked to see hot food up there, including kielbasa! You actually wouldn't even be able to make a decent salad with what was there. Overall better than I expected.
I was a manager and storee trainer in 1985 to 1988 and told the guy he broke Shoney's golden rule, The Customer is always right! But that was back when they were a good restaurant that served great food FAST! 7 MINUTES OR LESS.
